Our time is characterized by permanent and rapid changes in all areas of life. Political, social, economic and technological developments have an impact on the security situation. The police have to deal with new phenomena such as terrorism and extremism as well as new forms of crime such as crime on and through the internet (cybercrime). Socio-political developments due to immigration and the resulting discussions (e.g. in connection with violence in the social environment) also have an impact on police work, as does the increasingly dense road traffic. Open borders within Europe and internationalization or globalization, which is supported in a special way by the rapid progress of information and communication technology and the associated global networking, also influence the performance of police duties.
