The press office

  • organizes and/or supports media appointments, creates and implements corresponding concepts and 
  • supports and advises the departments on external and internal public relations and press work.

Public relations

The authority's public relations work is aimed at the general public, the approximately 1,700 employees of the LAFP NRW and the more than 50,000 police employees in NRW as a whole with media productions, its own campaigns, specialist articles and projects. Its primary purpose is to convey an authentic image of the police as an institution to the public. In this way, it is intended to support and further strengthen trust in police action.


The tasks of public relations include the following:

  • the central processing of media inquiries of particular importance (approval procedures for media productions)
  • Involvement as a speaker or lecturer on press and public relations topics
  • ensuring a "uniform public authority image" (corporate design)
  • Acting as editor-in-chief for official online communication
  • the creation of LAFP NRW internet and intranet articles
  • the creation of brochures, posters and flyers for internal and external topics/events
  • processing general inquiries from citizens
  • processing the LAFP NRW ideas and opinion management

Furthermore, as part of the internal and external public relations work, a large number of events (state-wide) are planned, accompanied and carried out.
