North Rhine-Westphalia offers a dual bachelor's degree program for the higher police enforcement service (career group 2.1).

In addition, university graduates who have passed the second state examination in law or the second examination (state examination) for the higher general administrative service have the option of direct entry into career group 2.2 (formerly "higher police enforcement service").

The intermediate police service is no longer trained in North Rhine-Westphalia. The last recruitment took place in 2001.

Since 2021, the North Rhine-Westphalia police have been training government inspector candidates in the field of administrative informatics.
