(hd) On Thursday afternoon (11.09.2025), police officers were able to catch a fraudster in the act. The fraudulent business had already been initiated a day earlier. A previously unknown man introduced himself to a family in Rödinghausen as a salesman. He was selling high-quality books. He could offer a missing book to complete the family's book collection. This was worth 2800 euros. The amount was to be paid off in installments. The man tried to urge the family to sign a corresponding contract. He explained that he would prepare the documents by the next day and then complete the sale. The family filed a complaint with the police. When the suspicious salesman returned the next day, he was already being met by police officers. His personal details were established and possible evidence seized. The 22-year-old Berliner is now facing criminal proceedings for attempted fraud.
